Day 5 (4/25/22): Nothing to See Here

Begin:                               Blythe, CA

End:                                  Wickenburg, AZ

 Miles:                               72 miles

Elevation Gain:                1,868 feet

If you go the Why? portion of this site, one of the reasons I gave for wanting to complete this trek was because you just see things differently from a bike.  That’s normally the case, but it wasn’t today.  The 65-mile stretch I cycled today through the Arizona desert was boring.  Other than the occasional Saguaro cactus, some old motel signs, and a business that appreciated a good fart joke (see gallery for all), there really wasn’t much to see.

It was a relatively easy day, which was good.

Highlight

  • Tish and I started the day riding together from our motel to the Arizona border—our second State! Somehow we had a hard time finding the pedestrian bridge and had to ask a Border Patrol agent twice for directions.

(That’s all I got tonight. Had the write the last 2 days posts this evening as well. Will work to get pictures posted tomorrow. Time to plan for tomorrow’s 4,600 ascent to Prescot, AZ.
