Change of Plans: Early Departure

I’ve decided to split San Diego county in half. The first day of the trip was supposed to take me from the ocean to the very edge of the county. It’s only 60 miles, but it’s a 6,000 foot elevation—by far the biggest climb of the trip. (Next closest day is 4,500 feet.) I’ve done 6,000 feet quite a number of times, but it’s no easy day and given my “open” calendar I decided to split the ride in two. As a result, we’re starting tomorrow (April 20) rather than April 21. I’ll do the second leg of the county on the 21st and rest on the 22nd at home (it’s supposed to rain anyway) and pick things up on Saturday the 23rd.
